The #1 Salesian High School News Source

Moving In, Moving Forward

By Andrew Gowerk ’19

Good Morning. Please pay attention to the following announcements. Just kidding, my name is Andrew Goworek and I am Salesian’s Student Body President. You may know me from AM Salesian, playing basketball, handball, or from Student Council Meetings. As the Student Body President of Salesian High School, I pride myself on being the best example at all times. That is something that all of my Salesian brothers who are reading this should pride themselves on.

It all started in May of my Junior Year, when I was inaugurated as Student Body President. I was absolutely ecstatic and simply just could not wait to prove to my Salesian brothers my love for our school and to make a massive difference in our beloved school. With that in mind, I carried out our first Bake Sale in June to help support our fellow Salesian School, Mary Help of Christians Academy, after their chapel unfortunately burnt down.

This summer was the first time in my life when I was actually anxious to get back into swing of things and return to school. That being said, at the end of September, we carried out another successful Bake Sale for the victims of Hurricane Florence and continued to look ahead. A couple weeks ago, Student Council helped to organize and carry out our Annual Salesian Car Wash on the coldest day of the year. It wasn’t cold enough to damper our Salesian Spirit, as we successfully washed cars for nearly four hours and made a significant amount of money to fund our Mission Trip to Belle Glade, Florida. Thank you to everyone who helped in that.

My fellow Salesian Brothers: I am proud to represent you as your Student Body President and I vow to do everything in my power to make you proud and improve our already great school. Thank you for helping me to achieve my goal of taking Salesian to new heights and let’s continue to look up from here. Thank you for making this tough transition of becoming Student Body President easy. And always remember: “we must ask not what our school can do for us, but what we can do for our school.” ~John F. Kennedy/Andrew Goworek.
